a carrot, egg and coffee

A carrot, an egg and a cup of coffee... By Anonymous

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire.

Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished thecarrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me, what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced thesame adversity ... boiling water. Each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected itsliquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed…THE WATER.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"**When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean? - It's definitely something worth thinking about...

FAMILY
My family is quite small. Family gatherings as a kid were really not much more than our household. But my wife comes from a big family.
We were recently at a big family gathering for a 40th wedding anniversary. I watched as Little Lady and Little Sister danced and ran and played with second cousins and hugged great aunts. I realized that this is something I never knew as a kid and how fortunate my children are. They might lose all contact with these people as the older generations get pruned from the family tree, but they will never lose that sense of roots, of coming from a community called family. This sense of roots, of where we come from, of personal and family history can be very important for people. It is a psychological stabilizing force. If you have the chance to give this to your children or even to build it at some point for yourself, I suspect you will see the same value in it that I do.

“13 PHRASES FOR LIVING”

I love you not for whom you are, but who I am when I’m by your side.

No person deserves your tears, and who deserves them won’t make you cry.

Just because someone doesn’t love you as you wish, it doesn’t mean you’re not loved with all his/her being.

A true friend is the one who holds your hand and touches your heart.

The worst way to miss someone is to be seated by his/her side and know you’ll never have him/her.

Never stop smiling, not even when you’re sad, someone might fall in love with your smile.

You may only be a person in this world, but for someone, you’re the world.

Don’t spend time with someone who doesn’t care spending it with you..

Maybe God wants you to meet many wrong people before you meet the right one, so when this happens, you’ll be thankfull.

Don’t cry because it came to an end. Smile because it happened.

There will always be people who’ll hurt you, so you need to continue trusting, just be carefull.

Become a better person and be sure to know who you are before meeting someone new and hoping that person knows who you are.

Don’t struggle so much, best things happen when not expected.
