I have a list of folks I know......all written in a book,
and every now and then......I go and take a look.
That is when I realize these names......they are a part,
not of the book they're written in......but taken from the heart.
For each name stands for someone......who has crossed my path sometime,
and in that meeting they have become......the reason and the rhyme.
Although it sounds fantastic......for me to make this claim,
I really am composed......of each remembered name.
Although you're not aware......of any special link, just knowing you,
has shaped my life......more than you could think.
So please don't think my greeting......as just a mere routine,
your name was not......forgotten in between.
For when I send a greeting......that is addressed to you,
it is because you're on the list......of folks I'm indebted to.
So whether I have known you......for many days or few,
in some ways you have a part......in shaping things I do.
I am but a total......of many folks I've met,
you are a friend I would prefer......never to forget.
Everything I need to know about life,
I learned from Noah's Ark...

To a Child Love Is Spelled T~I~M~E
by Lance Wubbels
In the faint light of the attic, an old man, tall and stooped, bent his great frame and made his way to a stack of boxes that sat near one of the little half-windows. Brushing aside a wisp of cobwebs, he tilted the top box toward the light and began to carefully lift out one old photograph album after another. Eyes once bright but now dim searched longingly for the source that had drawn him here.It began with the fond recollection of the love of his life, long gone, and somewhere in these albums was a photo of her he hoped to rediscover. Silent as a mouse, he patiently opened the long-buried treasures and soon was lost in a sea of memories. Although his world had not stopped spinning when his wife left it, the past was more alive in his heart than his present aloneness.
Setting aside one of the dusty albums, he pulled from the box what appeared to be a journal from his grown son's childhood. He could not recall ever having seen it before, or that his son had ever kept a journal. Why did Elizabeth always save the children's old junk? he wondered, shaking his white head.Opening the yellowed pages, he glanced over a short entry, and his lips curved in an unconscious smile. Even his eyes brightened as he read the words that spoke clear and sweet to his soul. It was the voice of the little boy who had grown up far too fast in this very house, and whose voice had grown fainter and fainter over the years. In the utter silence of the attic, the words of a guileless six-year-old worked their magic and carried the old man back to a time almost totally forgotten.Entry after entry stirred a sentimental hunger in his heart like the longing a gardener feels in the winter for the fragrance of spring flowers. But it was accompanied by the painful memory that his son's simple recollections of those days were far different from his own. But how different?
Reminded that he had kept a daily journal of his business activities over the years, he closed his son's journal and turned to leave, having forgotten the cherished photo that originally triggered his search. Hunched over to keep from bumping his head on the rafters, the old man stepped to the wooden stairway and made his descent, then headed down a carpeted stairway that led to the den.Opening a glass cabinet door, he reached in and pulled out an old business journal. Turning, he sat down at his desk and placed the two journals beside each other. His was leather bound and engraved neatly with his name in gold, while his son's was tattered and the name "Jimmy" had been nearly scuffed from its surface. He ran a long skinny finger over the letters, as though he could restore what had been worn away with time and use.As he opened his journal, the old man's eyes fell upon an inscription that stood out because it was so brief in comparison to other days.
In his own neat handwriting were these words:Wasted the whole day fishing with Jimmy. Didn't catch a thing. With a deep sigh and a shaking hand, he took Jimmy's journal and found the boy's entry for the same day, June 4. Large scrawling letters pressed deeply in the paper read:Went fishing with my dad. Best day of my life.

making the most of what you have
Making The Most Of What You Have
On Nov. 18, 1995, Itzhak Perlman, the violinist, came on stage to give a concert at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City.
f you have ever been to a Perlman concert, you know that getting on stage is no small achievement for him. He was stricken with polio as a child, and so he has braces on both legs and walks with the aid of two crutches. To see him walk across the stage one step at a time, painfully and slowly, is an awesome sight. He walks painfully, yet majestically, until he reaches his chair. Then he sits down, slowly, puts his crutches on the floor, undoes the clasps on his legs, tucks one foot back and extends the other foot forward. Then he bends down and picks up the violin, puts it under his chin, nods to the conductor and proceeds to play.
By now, the audience is used to this ritual. They sit quietly while he makes his way across the stage to his chair. They remain reverently silent while he undoes the clasps on his legs. They wait until he is ready to play.
But this time, something went wrong. Just as he finished the first few bars, one of the strings on his violin broke. You could hear it snap - it went off like gunfire across the room.
There was no mistaking what that sound meant. There was no mistaking what he had to do. We figured that he would have to get up, put on the clasps again, pick up the crutches and limp his way off stage - to either find another violin or else find another string for this one.
But he didn't. Instead, he waited a moment, closed his eyes and then signaled the conductor to begin again. The orchestra began, and he played from where he had left off. And he played with such passion and such power and such purity as they had never heard before.
Of course, anyone knows that it is impossible to play a symphonic work with just three strings. I know that, and you know that, but that night Itzhak Perlman refused to know that.
You could see him modulating, changing, re-composing the piece in his head. At one point, it sounded like he was de-tuning the strings to get new sounds from them that they had never made before.
When he finished, there was an awesome silence in the room. And then people rose and cheered. There was an extraordinary outburst of applause from every corner of the auditorium. We were all on our feet, screaming and cheering, doing everything we could to show how much we appreciated what he had done.
He smiled, wiped the sweat from this brow, raised his bow to quiet us, and then he said - not boastfully, but in a quiet, pensive, reverent tone - "You know, sometimes it is the artist's task to find out how much music you can still make with what you have left."
What a powerful line that is. It has stayed in my mind ever since I heard it. And who knows? Perhaps that is the definition of life - not just for artists but for all of us.
Here is a man who has prepared all his life to make music on a violin of four strings, who, all of a sudden, in the middle of a concert, finds himself with only three strings; so he makes music with three strings, and the music he made that night with just three strings was more beautiful, more sacred, more memorable, than any that he had ever made before, when he had four strings.
So, perhaps our task in this shaky, fast-changing, bewildering world in which we live is to make music, at first with all that we have, and then, when that is no longer possible, to make music with what we have left.
This story was so impressive to me that I wanted to share it with all of you!
Perhaps that is the definition of life - not just for artists but for all of us.

the dash that matters!!!!!
POSITIVE NEWS WEEKLY++++++++++++++++++++
The DashCopyright 1998 by Linda Ellis
I read of a reverend who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning...to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears.
But he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own;the cars...the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love and how we spendour dash.
So think about this long and hard. Are there things you'd liketo change?
For you never know how much time is left. You could be at dash mid-range.
If we could just slow down enoughto consider what's true and realand always try to understand
the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger and showappreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respectand more often wear a smile...remembering that this special dashmight only last a little while.
So when your eulogy's being read, with your life's actions to rehash, would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash?

a poem by tawana williams
LORD, WHY ME?
I often asked the question, Lord why me?
You must have seen something in me, which I didn't see
I know that I was not a mistake, because mistakes you
never make
How much more of this hurt and shame, Lord, how much more
can I take?
You see, man looks at the outside, but you looked on the inside,
and made sure that my heart was pure
You gave me power, and the will to fight, and you knew that
I would endure
But it wasn't easy, there was always a struggle, because I
always had to fit in
And I learned real quick that trying to fit in, always lead to sin
The devil slipped in and packaged sin, and made it look real good
I did things for money and drugs, I never thought I would
I should've none better, and listened to my elders, but, I learned
a valuable lesson
I went through so much, and the Lord brought me out, because he
knew, that I would be a blessing
Who would've ever thought that you would use me as you do, to
change the many lives of others, but I thank you for the spirit that
gave to me, to help my sisters and brothers
Lord, you saved me just in the knick of time, when I thought that it
was the end
I shall never let those words come out of my mouth, Lord why me,
ever again

an inspirational story
Positive Hero+++++++++++
Unarmed BUT Dangerous
The eagle is so powerful that it can even soar above an approaching storm.
It catches the wind by the tail and then rides the air currents. It does not fear.
It does not panic.
It only watches and waits until just the right moment and then aligns itself with
the coming force of nature. Then it rides, glides, and soars. Now just imagine
that same eagle without wings...
Without its wings, the eagle would be powerless. It would not be able to soar
above the earth, and we would miss the sight of him in flight. It would starve.
Without its wings, this magnificent bird of prey would die.
Like that eagle, we have all been created to soar. With outstretched arms,
we wait for our chance to catch a wave and soar. But my story is a bit different.
I learned to fly, even without wings.
Where do you turn when pain destroys every dream you ever had? When every
door of hope has been shut to you? For every fighter who has ever stood alone,
one woman's life tells the story of victory dawning after the darkest night.
Tawana Williams was a victim of brutal medical negligence. Born without arms
and with impaired use of her legs. Her compelling life story reveals a will to
survive the anguish of physical defect and the shame of abuse and isolation.
Unable to fight with human hands, she fought in spirit, and yet lives to stand
through the grace and courage. This is why she likes to tell others that because
of her relationship with God, she considers herself "Un-armed but Dangerous! "
Born in Wilson, NC, in 1963, Tawana was trained as a baby to use her feet as
hands. She can do just about anything that someone with arms can do, even
braid hair and write a check.
The words "I can't" are not in Tawana Williams' vocabulary. Tawana will simply
tell you that if you decide to do something in your life, you can do it. She knows
this lesson because she lives it everyday of her life.
I pray that my story will encourage you to live without excuses and even if your
wings get broken, make the attempt to fly. I believe that if you will try, then you
will live. If you don't, then like the eagle without wings, your dreams will surely die.
Tawana is the author of two books, "I'm Different but I Can" and "Unarmed but
Dangerous," which was released in 2005. She is also a professional speaker,
artist, poet, and vocalist. Tawana captivates her audiences with her boldness

One Jar of Mayonnaise and 2 cups of coffee
One Jar of Mayonnaise and 2 cups of coffee.
When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours ina day isn't enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee. A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in frontof him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large andempty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He thenasked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas betweenthe golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. Theyagreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Ofcourse, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jarwas full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table andpoured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty spacebetween the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you torecognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important thingsour family, your children, your health, your friends and your favourite passionsnd if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house andyour car.The sand is everything else--the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golfballs.
The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important toyou.
"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out todinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house andfix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first--the things that reallymatter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffeerepresented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."Please share this with someone you care about...

DOES EVIL EXIST??????
Did God create everything that exists? Does evil exist? Did God create evil?
A University professor at a well known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question: “Did God create everything that exists?”
A student bravely replied, “Yes he did!”
“God created everything?” The professor asked.
“Yes sir, he certainly did,” the student replied.
The professor answered, “If God created everything; then God created evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil.”
The student became quiet and did not answer the professor’s hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said, “May I ask you a question, professor?”
“Of course”, replied the professor.
The student stood up and asked, “Professor, does cold exist?”
“What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?” The other students snickered at the young man’s question.
The young man replied, “In fact, sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460 F) is the total absence of heat and all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat.”
The student continued, “Professor, does darkness exist?”
The professor responded, “Of course it does.”
The student replied, “Once again you are wrong, sir; darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton’s prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn’t this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present.”
Finally the young man asked the professor, “Sir, does evil exist?”
Now uncertain, the professor responded, “Of course, as I have already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man’s inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.”
To this the student replied, “Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold … a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light.”
The professor sat down.

PROCRASTINATION
Have you ever thought about why you procrastinate? Years ago I discovered that my tendency to procrastinate had its roots in teenage rebellion against my mother! When I realized how little value that rebellion had for me as an adult, I could effectively change my behavior. Procrastination is a habit, and one that can be changed- if you are willing. If you have a big project or bigdream, procrastinating will just delay it forever and find you regretting the lack of action later. When I was working on my PhD dissertation, I found myself delaying for months because it was such as huge task. FinallyI made a deal with myself: I would work on it every morningfor 2 hours. Once I did that, I could do anything I wanted to for the rest of the day! What happened is I started getting involved with the project, working 5 to 7 hours a day on it, and the draftwas finished in 6 weeks.
1. Start by taking care of some of those small tasks right away. When you do, congratulate yourself. Go to the mirror and praiseyourself.
2. Create some affirmations for your new way to deal with things."It feels great to be taking care of things easily and quickly!"(Note- do not use the word procrastination in your affirmationsbecause that gives your subconscious mind the very image ofwhat you want to change.)
3. List a few "instant tasks." What are some immediate thingsyou could take care of?
4. If you're working on a big project that seems daunting, setaside a short block of time to work on it, say 15 - 30 minutes.Establish mini-deadlines.
5. Set priorities. What are the most important tasks that needto be accomplished? Write them down and schedule them.
6. Use the magic "if." I just can\'t, but IF I could, what would I do?On the days I didn\'t feel like working on my dissertation, I would do something mindless like typing up the book list or the table of contents.
7. Recognize any fears, breathe, and let them go.
8. Identify your most creative time during the day and schedulethat time for your project.
9. Ask yourself, "How will I feel in 5 years if I don\'t put energytoward this goal?"
10. Stop judging yourself for procrastinating. Accept yourself, evenwhen you are procrastinating. Then forgive yourself and get going!

some quotes for valentine
Today's tips are a mix of lovely quotes and tips.
'The best and most beautiful things cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.'
Helen KellerStart with yourself. Ask: 'Am I being loving and accepting to myself? Am I willing to stop criticizing myself?' When you love and accept yourself, you project an energy that is attractive to others, and it's also easier to love others. Look at people with compassion and love. They are doing the best they can with the knowledge and understanding they have at the time.
'There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread.' - Mother Teresa
When going to a gathering or meeting of any kind, before you go in, mentally project love around you and the entire group. Then notice the miracles of connection that happen!
Forgive the past. Forgive yourself and others to let go of the old baggage and make room for more love. Right now, instead of just reading on, stop and ask yourself, 'who do I most need to forgive?' Then be willing to do it. 'Throughout eternity, I forgive you and you forgive me.'
A short poem by William Blake to his wife on the need to continually forgive the one closest to us.
Looking for the perfect partner? Instead of trying to figure out where to meet him or her, trust that the Universe will guide you to the right place. I met Rick in a church bookstore, at the time not even thinking about finding a partner! If you're in an intimate relationship, how can you show your partner more love, not just around special days like your anniversary or Valentine's Day,but all year long? 'Love doesn't make the world go 'round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.'- Franklin P. Jones
Think of someone in your life who seems difficult to love- a family member, co-worker, or acquaintance. Close your eyes and mentally tell that person, 'I am willing to accept you as doing the best you can. I send you love.'Write love notes to yourself or buy lovely cards and send them to yourself. Buy yourself some flowers! For the next few days, whenever you speak to someone you know, tell the person something you like or appreciate about them. Then make it a habit.'As you continue to send out love, the energy returns to you in a regenerating spiral... As love accumulates, it keeps your system in balance and harmony. Love is the tool, and more love is the end product.' Sara Paddison

not giving up
Not Giving Up
I can remember a period in my life when I was unemployed and money was running short. I needed a job very badly and it seemed as if no one was hiring.
A very good friend of mine approached me one day with an offer. "I'm going to have to let this job go and I was wondering if you would like to take it over?"
"That would be great," I replied.
I went to speak with the manager and he said he could use me, but never gave me a start date. Really needing the job, I made it a point to go and check in with him every day.
I knew he would eventually get tired of me and give me a starting period. Finally one day he said, "You can start Monday morning."
Come Monday morning, I showed up for work extra early. I was ready to do my best. When I went inside I was informed that I would be buffing the floors. My friend was there to show me how to operate the buffer.
"It's real easy," he said, running the machine very smoothly.
He handed it over to me and said, "Here, you give it a try."
I grabbed the handles with a "no problem" attitude and gave it some gas. To my surprise, the buffer whipped around in a big circle, running over my friend's brand new pair of boots, and sending him jumping up on a check-out counter.
Several times, I tried to run it again and failed. I really had to fight that thing to make it go.
"What am I going to do?" I thought to myself. "I finally found a job and I can't do it. Am I going to have to tell them I have to quit?"
After several rough days of buffing, I finally made up my mind that I was going to do this. For about a week, I struggled with the buffer, putting all my weight and strength into it.
Eventually, I learned the trick was not to struggle with it at all, just go with the flow of it, and by the second week, I was showing off and running it with one hand.
A few months later, I thought back and wondered what would have happened if I had given up that first week. I certainly would not have had the newfound confidence or a paycheck.
Sometime after that experience, I started a new job that required the use of a buffer. I even had to train others to use it, and I always got a kick out of seeing them run it for the first time.
I knew, though, if they stuck with it, they would do just fine; they just needed a little encouragement and a lot of practice.
Michael Jordan said, "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."

do you have a reason to love someone? think again!
i have no reason to love any one of you.................................. yet i love you all.
Lady : Why do you like me..? Why do you love me?
Man : I can't tell the reason.. but I really like you..
Lady : You can't even tell me the reason... how can you say you like me? How can you say you love me?
Man : I really don't know the reason, but I can prove that I love you.
Lady : Proof? No! I want you to tell me the reason. My friend's boyfriend can tell her why he loves her but not you!
Man : Ok..ok!!! Erm... because you are beautiful, because your voice is sweet, because you are caring, because you are loving, because you are thoughtful, because of your smile, because of your every movements. The lady felt very satisfied with the man's answer.
Unfortunately, a few days later, the Lady met with an accident and became comma.
The Guy then placed a letter by her side, and here is the content: Darling, Because of your sweet voice that I love you... Now can you talk? No! Therefore I cannot love you?
Because of your care and concern that I like you...Now that you cannot show them, therefore I cannot love you?
Because of your smile, because of your every movements that I love you.. Now can you smile? Now can you move? No, therefore I cannot love you...?
If love needs a reason, like now, there is no reason for me to love you anymore. Do love need a reason? NO! Therefore, I still love you... And love doesn't need a reason... " Sometimes the best and the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, cannot be touched, but can be felt in the heart " " The meaning of true love is not finding the perfect person but to love the imperfect person perfectly " Love doesnt need a reason... its something you can feel burning inside your heart and cannot be explain...

When You Thought I Wasn't Looking
Written by a former child Author Unknown
A message every adult should read, because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's alright to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, 'Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'

I Wish You Enough
Recently at an airport I overheard a father and daughter
in their last moments together. They had announced
her departure and standing near the security gate,
they hugged and he said, "I love you, I wish you enough."
She in turn said, "Daddy, our life together has been
more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed,
I wish you enough, too, Daddy."
They kissed and she left. He walked over toward
the window where I was seated. Standing there
I could see he wanted and needed to cry.
I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed
me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to
someone knowing it would be forever?"
"Yes, I have," I replied, "forgive me for asking,
but why is this a forever good-bye?" I asked.
"I am old and she lives much too far away. I have
challenges ahead and the reality is, the next trip
back would be for my funeral," he said.
"When you were saying good-bye I heard you
say, 'I wish you enough." May I ask what that means?"
He began to smile. "That's a wish that has been
handed down from other generations. My parents
used to say it to everyone." He paused for a moment
and looking up as if trying to remember it in detail,
he smiled even more.
"When we said 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting
the other person to have a life filled with just enough
good things to sustain them," he continued and then
turning toward me he shared the following as if he
were reciting it from memory.
"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude
bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the
sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep
your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that
the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you
possess. I wish enough "Hello's" to get you
through the final "Good-bye."
Tears filled his eyes and he walked away.
It's always worthwhile to love.
